AMA Registration
A membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics covers you for whatever you fly and wherever you fly. And it doesn’t matter if you fly an airplane, helicopter, park flyer, multirotor, quadcopter, sUAS, FPV, DIY drone or even an aerial robot. Just join the AMA, fly for recreational fun and operate within the AMA National Model Aircraft Safety Code1 and you’re good to take off.
All members and prospective members must be a member in good standing of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and have FAA Small UAS Certification number. Proof of membership should be carried during club activities.
All pilots must now register with the FAA. You don't need permission from the FAA to fly your aircraft for fun or recreation, but you must always fly safely. You must also label your aircraft with your registration number.
